Where do we start! Staying at Azul is like stepping into the most tranquil version of paradise… the wooden cabins are lakeside so you see and hear the water day to night and you have your own private garden that you can relax and soak up the wilderness. The food at the resort cafe is INCREDIBLE (we will be forever missing the hibiscus tacos) and the colour of that lake is almost unreal it’s that beautiful. The highlight of our stay were the incredibly hospitable and friendly hosts and their gorgeous doggos, and we truly didn’t want to leave. The most surprising for us was how modern but still also rustic the cabins are, and how insanely comfortable staying at the lake was. It was authentic to its surroundings but also very luxurious, the ideal combination. We would skip Cancun and Tulum and come straight here to Bacalar next time - and for sure we will be back

I have come to Bacalar every single year for the past 5 years and I’ve tried many beach front hotels on the lagoon of Bacalar: this is by far the best one. It is in fact one of my favourite hotels in the world! So intimate. Genuine. Absolutely stunning, no hesitation. Sunsets and sunrises on their kayaks watching the world wake up were some of my favourite experiences ever. If you are looking for reconnecting with yourself and nature, or share special moments with loved ones, this is it

What a magical beautiful place! The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and felt like a lovely bit of luxury. We checked in and didn’t leave for nearly 48 hours as was so beautiful with everything you need. The food and cocktails were lovely too. Swimming was great, although down quite a few steps not a problem for us, but worth noting if you struggle with mobility issues. Saw quite a few fish and pretty sure we saw a little fresh water turtle poking its head out to breathe. Sunrise was just magical.

Is this heaven? There are no words to truly describe the amazing time I had at Azul No Me Olvides. I stayed in Amaru, a beautiful and cozy cabin with the most breathtaking view of the sunrise over the lagoon. The different decks and hammocks right on the water’s edge are perfect for relaxing and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The service makes you feel right at home, and the variety of food on the menu — especially the vegan and vegetarian options — is both delicious and impressive. Don’t miss the chilaquiles or the hibiscus tacos! When you stay at Azul No Me Olvides, you won’t want to leave — it’s that magical. But if you do feel like exploring, downtown Bacalar is just a short drive away. The location is ideal: close enough for convenience, but far enough that you’re surrounded only by the sounds of nature. I loved every moment of my stay… except saying goodbye. I’ll definitely be back. Huge thanks to the incredible hosts for making my vacation absolutely perfect

The hotel is located a bit outside the town of Bacalar, but that didn’t bother us. It’s a wonderful corner of nature with very friendly staff. The cabin is stylish, with plenty of lounge areas and a lot of privacy; however, the soundproofing is more like in a tent. If you’re on a honeymoon, it might not feel very cozy We stayed in January, so it was quite humid and cold to sleep at night. The lagoon water is stunning—clean, with a floating platform and a hammock in the water. Breakfast was excellent and delicious, and the dinner was also of very high quality. Although the price is high compared to the rest of the region, the romance makes it worth it

Azul Nomeolvides is my absolute favorite place in the peninsula. The facilities are incredibly cute and comfortable; they do feel in harmony with the landscape and perfect for relaxation. This spot provides silence and calmness, which is a luxury nowadays. Waking up in front of the beautiful Bacalar lagoon with an amazing view, drinking my coffee on the cabin’s deck, and then going for a swim was the perfect way to start the day. Bacalar town is close enough to go and have lunch or dinner there, or just to explore the town. The crew at Azul was super helpful and nice, they were very attentive, and they made my stay a great experience. The food and drinks were delicious and of great quality. I enjoyed every minute at Azul Nomeolvides, I can’t wait to go back.

This really was the most magical place and the highlight of what was a fantastic trip to the Yucatan. It sounds cliched, but Bernie and Sam have created a genuine idyll on the banks of Lake Bacalar. The huts are beautifully designed (by Sam) using a mix of old and new techniques. We loved the way nature was able to make its way into the bathroom (in the best way before anyone gets alarmed by unwelcome guests) and waking up to look over the lake makes you feel very connected with the space - worth getting up for sunrise down by the water if you can. Bernie was the perfect host - charming, helpful and interesting. There are only six huts so you never feel crowded out and there's that nice feeling of bonding with other guests that you've all stumbled on something very special. Fantastic food; we basically worked our way through the menu. Cannot recommend this high enough.

Azul Nomeolvides was a stunning and tranquility experience. It's a beautiful place to stay to disconnect from a fast paced world and connect with nature. It's eco friendly and providing natural options for toiletries and manmade materials across the property. The service is wonderful as is the food. You won't need to go anywhere. Lounge in your bungalow, enjoy the breeze, take a dip in the lagoon, cruise on a kayak and enjoy the food and experience. Great place for couples to have privacy and a romantic getaway. Even solo it was great to disconnect and relax. Sam and Bernie care deeply about the guest experience and will be sure you create a warm welcome for you. It may be suitable to have a vehicle to get in and out of town if you choose as a taxi can add up quickly, or just don't leave. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
